St. Sebastian Boys and Girls
Swim Team
St. Sebastian’s Swim Team is looking for Boys and Girls interested in a competitive, fun team atmosphere. We expect that children joining the team have mastered basic swimming skills of breathing with face in the water, strokes of freestyle and backstroke, and the ability to dive. We do not offer swim lessons.
** Whereas we encourage you to try out for the team, please be advised that due to Covid 19 our pool deck and locker rooms can only hold maximum 40 people on deck at one time, thus our swim program has very limited space available.
AGE: 12 years old and under
DATES & TIME: Monday September 20th 4pm-6pm
LOCATION: St. Sebastian’s Parish Center POOL

Criteria: MUST be able to swim without stopping two lengths of the pool (25 yards each) – one each of Freestyle and Backstroke. Must be able to dive. Other strokes Butterfly/Breaststroke are a plus. Be sure to bring your bathing suit, bathing cap, swim goggles, and towel.
New swimmers will swim in GROUP 1 which meets Monday and Thursday 3:30 to 4:30 and Sunday mornings at 7:00 AM. Practice runs 1 hour each group, we have 4 groups. Groups 3 & 4 only swim Sunday / Monday. Competitive Swim Meets are normally held on Friday evenings. *Boys will not be having a competitive season this Fall, but we will be having in house competition with the Girls. We are hoping the Girls will have a competitive season in Jan-Apr. Regardless, boys and girls will practice this year. Please check your schedules prior to trying out to ensure that you are able to commit to our practice and meet times.
To ensure the safety of all our swimmers, we require that parents participate in locker room monitoring and supervision. We also require parent volunteers to work with the swim program.
***Children 12 and over per NYC Covid mandate law must have at least one dose of the vaccine and must show proof.
****Any parent volunteers also must be vaccinated and show proof.
Fees: St. Sebastian Swim Team runs from September to early May (that’s 9 months!) Fees for the 2021-2022 Season are $350 per child. Third or more siblings have a discounted rate of $150 each. Bathing Suit and equipment fees are not known at this time, but plan approximately $75 to $100 per child. We will hold a swim team fund raiser and expect participation from our families – approximately $100 per swimmer. We will do our best to see that children are not turned away from the program due to financial constraints.
